What:
I am offering lessons on creating jewelry and basic metal working.
Subject’s Available:
Lost wax casting: The basic process of carving a ring in wax and casting it into solid metal will be covered. This can be expanded to learning how create stone settings in wax, casting in different metals, and finishing a cast piece.The Basics of casting can be taught in 2 sessions.
Basic soldering: The basic concepts of joining two pieces of metal will be covered. This can be expanded to resizing rings, soldering bezels, and soldering different metals together such as Silver and Copper.
Basic stone setting: Prong setting, channel setting, and bezel setting can all be learned. This can also include learning how to make/ repair your own jewelry, which incorporates these setting techniques.
Basic Mold Making: Learn how to reproduce your jewelry designs using rubber molds.
Where:
Instruction will be given in my workspace in SE Portland. The space is equipped for production of all the jewelry listed in the above subjects.
Equipment:
I will provide access to all the equipment necessary to complete a project. This includes polishing machines, kiln, torches, etc.
Materials:
Materials can be purchased throughout the course or all in advance. You can buy your materials on your own or through me. Silver will cost $10-$20. Gold Changes daily.
